Combat 18 claims responsibility for terrorist attack

Combat 18 Russia is claiming responsibility for the recent terrorist attack on a passenger train.

Many analysts are unconvinced. If it turns out the C18 claim is false, this is nonetheless a worrying development insofar as C18 Russia is clearly seeking to position itself as an active terrorist organisation.

According to this report, the C18 statement reads:

We, the militant autonomous group Combat 18, claim the responsibility for the attack against Nevsky Express. We will continue! The time has come. We say that the war will affect everyone. There are no indifferent people and no innocent victims in this war. There are only our supporters and enemies.

The group has also claimed responsibility for an explosive device found in the subway in Saint Petersburg on November 14.

Guru Gobind Singh’s stance towards Muslims

This is a cross-post of an article by Jai from Pickled Politics

I think a few more things need to be stated for the record in relation to Rajinder Singh [the Sikh who is supporting the

BNP]. While his reaction is understandable from a “flawed human nature” perspective, considering the apparent loss of his father during Partition, it isn’t justifiable, either from a general moral perspective or indeed from a specifically Sikh perspective. Let me give an example of another Sikh who suffered immense personal tragedy at the hands of Muslims, in some cases explicitly claiming to be acting in the name of Islam.

Newsnight: Close Links Between Hizb ut Tahrir and the ISF School

Newsnight presents the compelling evidence of the close links between the Islamic Shakhsiyah Foundation and Hizb ut Tahrir.

It really is time for the Government to act.

How did OFSTED miss what was obvious to anybody with any knowledge of this dangerous jihadist cult?

The Shakhsiyah Balls Up

This is a guest post by Abdul Hamid al Manchesteri

****

Who actually benefits from obscuring the facts on the Islam Shakhsiyah Foundation (ISF)? If this were a BNP-run foundation overseeing two schools, there is no way any Secretary of State for Education could have contemplated scoring political points at the expense of the oppostion’s fumbling research. But when it is Hizb-ut-Tahrir in the spotlight, the government plays the “divisive smears” race card and the Tories run meekly for cover.

But when the facts are ineveitably going to surface concerning the direct links between the Hizb and ISF, there will be no place to hide for those who doing their best to deny them; step forward Ed Balls, ISF and the Hizb.

Andrew Gilligan hits all the right notes on Ed Balls’ role in the Islamic Shakhsiyah Foundation scandal:

A setback for the Brotherhood in Britain

The struggle against Islamism in this country is a long war, with all that entails. It unfolds in a world of skirmishes, false-starts and minutely shifting power balances.

Every now and then, however, comes a set-piece moment:

“The Trustees of Policy Exchange are delighted to report that Mr Justice Eady yesterday struck out the claim brought against us by the North London Central Mosque.

North London Central Mosque commenced an action against Policy Exchange and Dr Denis MacEoin for libel, following publication of our study “The Hijacking of British Islam” in October 2007.

Six trustees who had advanced the claim on behalf of the North London Central Mosque were ordered to pay Policy Exchange’s costs of defending this action.

The High Court made a further Order that £75,000 of those costs be paid by North London Central Mosque within 28 days.”

Opposing UN Defamation of Religions Proposal

In a Geneva meeting that concluded on October 30th, Pakistan, on behalf of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC), and Nigeria, on behalf of the Africa Group, proposed a binding treaty amendment to the ICERD (International Covenant on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination, 1969, an existing international treaty on racism) concerning the defamation of religion.

Meanwhile, in New York on October 29th, Syria, on behalf of the OIC, along with Belarus and Venezuela, proposed yet another General Assembly resolution “combating defamation of religions.” The resolution lends credibility to the proposal of a binding treaty and continues to provide international cover for domestic anti-blasphemy laws in countries like Pakistan and Sudan.

The United Nations has continuously passed non-binding resolutions on defamation of religions since 1999. However, for the first time ever, a UN body has now proposed a binding treaty to combat the defamation of religions.

Welcome to this week’s caption competition folks. This week we feature Farah Ahmed, headmistress of the Slough branch of the Islamic Shakhsiyah Foundation which has been at the centre of a political storm this week.

Poor girl, it can’t be much fun being exposed for having links to a genocidal and racist organisation. I hope our competition cheers her up. As ever, captions in the comments box below.

HT Membership – To be or not to be

This is a cross-post of an article by Imaad, who spent many years as an activist with Hizb ut-Tahrir but now campaigns for liberal secular values

****

Today David Cameron is back-pedalling wildly over specific details of claims he made yesterday at Prime Minister’s Questions about two independent schools in North London run by the ‘Islamic Shakhsiyah Foundation’ (ISF). What initially seemed to be a devastating Tory attack on Labour’s failure to prevent members of the extremist group Hizb ut-Tahrir (HT) from gaining control over the education of British children swiftly turned into a desperate damage-limitation effort by the Tories. Ed Balls very successfully deflected debate away from the overarching issue (that ISF has close links to Hizb ut-Tahrir, received government money in the past and continues to control the education of children attending two schools) and turned it into a discussion of details, such as which fund that money came from, whether inspection reports are available online and on which website the schools’ registration numbers could be found.

Arise Sir Bari!

The rumour mill has it that the Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Britain, and former chairman of the Jamaat-e-Islami front group, Islamic Forum Europe (IFE), Muhammad Abdul Bari, is being considered for ennoblement and a seat in the House of Lords. This from Nick Cohen:

My sources tell me that Brown’s goons hauled civil servants into Downing Street to find out the names of my sources. They failed miserably but they did let slip that the peerage may not be going to Sacranie now I’d blown the whistle but to the Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Britain, Muhammad Abdul Bari.

What would the reaction from the Muslim community be were this to actually take place? Lucy Lips has it about right:

Were such a step taken, the newspapers would be full of articles about goings on at IFE and the East London Mosque. The Government would look as if it were either foolish, or unconcerned about the very extreme and nasty politics practiced in those institutions.
