Questions for David Miller at Neocon Europe

Last week, The Spittoon published a two-part exposé (Part 1 and Part 2) of the workings of the Neocon Europe website and, in particular, Professor David Miller of Strathclyde University, its leading editor. We were especially concerned at how the site came to reproduce material and commentary from the notorious anti-semite Kevin MacDonald.

It is not only the contributors of David Miller’s Neocon Europe site who find the racist and essentialist ideas of MacDonald appealing. MacDonald also happens to be lovingly quoted by Lee John Barnes, the “legal representative” of the BNP.

Following the publication of the articles on The Spittoon, Professor Miller published a statement of correction last week:

The Spittoon does correctly note that the statements were removed from this website some time before the Spittoon published its allegations. This was carried out by myself at 07:17hrs on 11 November 2009 as soon as I became aware that they had been posted on the site.

Garton Ash’s view of the Swiss ban on minarets

Timothy Garton Ash has written a comment piece for the Guardian discussing the Swiss ban on mosque minarets. I agree with all that he says except for the Islamic Shakhsiya Foundation point.

I have looked at the curriculum that they were teaching at the time they received government funding. And yes, they do promote Hizb ut-Tahrir (HT) ideology to the core. And as many of us know, HT ideology mandates Muslims to lead segregated lives from the rest of society and to only follow HT’s version of Islam. It is not exactly rocket science to know that HT run schools with HT teachers and a headmistress that was HT at the time of funding and writing the school’s curriculum would be teaching HT ideology to children. Anyway, the rest of the article is good. Have a read:

The IHRC Is Taking The Piss!

This is a cross-post by Lucy Lips from Harry’s Place
****

We have been entertained, over the last few days, by the spectacle of one nutter – with the assistance of the Crown Prosecution Service – hauling a couple of other nutters through the courts, at the taxpayers’ expense.

Few of you will have missed the court case, in which two “born again Christians” were accused by a woman who had very recently ‘reverted’ to Islam – having passed through various other religions – of having committed the offence of “religiously aggravated assault”.

When all the evidence was in, what seemed to have happened was this. Ms Vernon, the complainant, turned up to breakfast one morning dressed in a hijab. Mr and Mrs Vogelenzang, the defendants, rather rudely took the piss. Ms Kazi responded with some fruity language about her “tits” and “backside”. The group then engaged in robust debate on the subject of Mohammed’s military record, and Jesus’ divine or prophetic status.

Burkha Fashion Show

Bill Maher’s perfectly pitched satire is just the right mix of “offensive and hilarious”.

Burkhas designed by Donna Koran and Muslim Dior (he used to be Christian Dior but he reverted).

Kentish Town British-Jobbik Association Meeting

This is a cross-post of an article from Nothing British

****

Gloucester Arms pub Kentish Town

Sunday 6th December 2009 – Forty-five Hungarian fascist sympathisers met at a Kentish Town pub to raise funds for Jobbik, the Hungarian nationalist party, and to participate in a Q&A on nationalist issues like the threat of Israelis buying Hungarian property and the problem of gypsies.

The Hungarian courts have already made it clear that they find the values of Jobbik’s militia to be inimical to those of ordinary Hungarians (for the Nothing British Information Note on Jobbik, click here).

We see no reason why this sort of meeting should go unchallenged in the UK.

Sunday’s event was organised by The British-Jobbik Society and was hosted by Zoltan Fuzessy, Jobbik’s UK-based former webmaster and current Vice-President of Foreign Affairs. Fuzessy is, according to the invitation to Sunday’s meeting, Chief of Staff to Csanad Szegedi MEP, a militia commander in the Hungarian Guard, a Hungarian supremacist, a gypsy-baiter and a Israel-hater. Outside there was a 10-person anti-fascist demonstration.

beard-pulling update: are lubavitch a bunch of messianic heretics, or what?

it appears that the mainstream orthodox rabbinical council of america has picked a fight with the powerful chabad / lubavitch movement over the perennial problem about whether the last lubavitcher rebbe is dead, or the messiah, or both, or what. obviously, there is a slight problem with jews who start believing that the messiah has already come if the relevant prophecies haven’t been fulfilled. similarly, if the messiah in question hasn’t rebuilt the Temple, hasn’t ingathered the exiles of the jewish people or has, in fact, shuffled off this mortal coil and run down the curtain to join the choir invisibule, but his followers start coming out with terms like “occultation” and claiming he isn’t really dead and has Divine powers, G!D forbid, it does start to look a tiny bit like, well, er, christianity.

When Is Banning a Mosque Not Islamophobic?

Plans to convert an old, disused city-centre warehouse into a mosque for the Ahmadiyya Muslim community in Walsall were rejected after more than 800 complaints were received.

A man protesting the mosque development plans was jubilant:

“It is a victory for the people, there are enough places of worship in the area. There was not a single person who supported it.

Something like that should be to serve the community but none of the local residents were going to benefit from it. It is great that common sense has prevailed.”

Another man couldn’t contain his joy:

“We are happy the right decision has been made. It would have been a public nusiance and is a relief.”

Surely these comments could not have been made by anyone other than the Islamophobic bigots from the BNP, SIOE or the EDL? Actually, they were not.

Cry Freedom!

Sudanese opposition groups, both Northern and Southern, vowed over the weekend to stage a mass demonstration at the Parliament on Monday, despite a last minute ban issued by the Sudanese regime.

Eyewitnesses reported thousands of heavily armed policemen took up positions in the capital from early Monday morning hours in an apparent bid to curb the protests.

The bulk of the parties which signed up to take part in the rally include those signatories to the Juba declaration last September in a conference hosted by the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM).

The parties are protesting the delay in passing crucial laws including the national security and referendum bill. A memorandum is set to be delivered to the national assembly.

Below are some photographs of the aftermath of that demonstration in which many peaceful demonstrators were beaten down by police using iron reinforcement rods.  Amongst many arrested were the Secretary General of the SPLM, Pagun Amum, and his deputy in the North, Yasir Armun.

Facebook Jerks

Another costly study to confirm the bleeding obvious:

Psychologist Sam Gosling analyzed the Facebook profiles of 236 college-aged people, who were also asked to fill out personality questionnaires. The study, which will be published in an upcoming issue of the journal Psychological Science, included surveys that were designed to assess not only how study participants viewed themselves in reality, but also what their personalities would be like if they had all of their ideal traits. Specifically Gosling and colleagues measured openness, agreeableness, conscientiousness, extraversion and neuroticism. And when they sized up the survey results against participants’ Facebook profiles, it quickly became clear that, instead of putting out gilded versions of themselves, people’s online profiles were in keeping with what they were actually like in real life.

Bunglawala obsesses about Zionists while MPAC brands them ‘scum of the earth’

This is a cross-post by Shiraz Maher from the Focus on Islamism blog at Standpoint Magazine.

********************

The Muslim Public Affairs Committee (MPAC) is a virulently anti-Semitic organisation. Almost since its inception, the group has obsessed about Jews and Israel, pumping out a near endless stream of articles on the topic.

Yesterday, the group’s website posted this response to an article in the Jewish Chronicle about the disgraced Inayat Bunglawala’s ongoing and vicious sectarianism at a time when he is trying to rebrand himself a ‘moderate’:

Here is a clear case of stirring trouble and hatred (which Zionists are good at)

Do you see how Zionists divide Muslims? Is it not time we united against this scum of the earth?
