Palestinian Return Centre linked website turns on European fascist ally

This is a guest post by Bob à Jobbik

Do you remember Sameh Habeeb? He’s a Palestinian activist with very close links to Palestinian Return Centre (PRC). He’s the chap who wrote an email to Nothing British to complain that the PRC was not anti-Semitic because they had invited ”NORMAN Frankensteine who is Jew”. He meant Norman Finkelstein, of course.

Mr Habeeb is also the editor of The Palestine Telegraph (PT), which has close links to the pro-Hamas PRC. The PRC lists the Istanbul Declaration signatory and MCB Deputy-Secretary, Daud Abdullah, as a senior researcher and is close to Clare Short MP and Lib Dem Baroness Jenny Tonge. Its patron is the Daily Mail journalist, Lauren Booth.

Last November the PRC invited the Hungarian neo-fascist MEP, Kristina Morvai, to its December conference in London. It then withdrew the invitation after pressure from Nothing British.

The Muslim Council of Britain weighs into the Geert Wilders debate

This is a guest post by Al-Qanaas Al-Masri

****

The Muslim Council of Britain, the UK’s pre-eminent Jamaat-e-Islami front-group, has issued an incisive press-release on the much-debated question of whether or not Geert Wilders should be allowed into the UK:

The Muslim Council of Britain today re-iterated the widely held view that the far right Dutch politician Geert Wilders is a relentless preacher of hate. The MCB neither condones nor condemns the decision to allow him into the United Kingdom, but it objects to the rapturous welcome he is receiving in the name of free speech.

It neither “condones nor condemns” the decision to let Wilders into the UK? What sort of nonsense is this?

The MCB: The Taint of Genocide

In May 1995 a Channel 4 documentary ‘Bangladesh, War Crimes File’ directed by David Bergman made allegations of the involvement of three British Bangladeshis in the genocide committed in East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) in 1971.

Smile like you mean it

Chowdhury Mueen-Uddin

Chowdhury Mueen-Uddin, one of those individuals named in the documentary, was alleged to have been instrumental in plotting the assassinations of intellectuals, journalists and students with the al-Badr death squads, assisted by the Jamaat-e-Islami. The program included eyewitness accounts directly linking Mueen-Uddin to the murders of two men; Dr. M H Choudhaury, a professor at the University of Dhaka, and Najmul Huq, a journalist.

Channel 4 received a letter from Chowdhury Mueen-Uddin’s lawyers and very little of that documentary has been heard of since. Until today, when Delwar Hossain re-opened the discussion on the Bangladesh War Crimes and Mueen-Uddin’s involvement in them in an article on CiF:

Times Exposes Jack Straw Links With Blackburn Radicals

This is cross-post from the Standpoint blog Focus on Islamism by Alexander Meleagrou-Hitchens

****

Jack Straw is well known to be a fan of the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB), and today the Times has revealed the extent of his dealings with them.

According to today’s report:

A secret MI5 report on Islamic extremism in Blackburn has raised “potential concerns” about some radical Muslim factions known to Jack Straw, the local MP and justice secretary.

A senior security figure who has seen the report said it underlined concern among cabinet colleagues that Straw could be “too close” to the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB), a prominent Muslim umbrella group. The government formally severed links with the group after a blazing row over extremism earlier this year.

MCB Get Ahead Of Themselves

John Denham, new Secretary of State for Communitites and Local Government, recently stated his desire that the government’s Prevent strategy shift its focus from being on “al-Qaida-influenced terrorism” to looking at extremism of all varieties. As outlined by David T earlier this week, there are many reasons for this being A Good Idea.

Here at the Spittoon we have been horrified by the rise of the viciously anti-Muslim BNP; a government policy to address the rise of far right politics must surely be welcomed. But then this was accompanied by the news that the Muslim Council of Britain’s banishment from Westminster may be coming to an end.

The official attempt to mend fences follows a controversial phase in the history of the programme, which culminated in an acrimonious dispute between Hazel Blears, Denham’s predecessor, and the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB).

Bungles Continues Comical Crusade Against Quilliam

Further to his increasingly pathetic obsession with anybody who stands against Islamism in the UK, Inayat Bunglawala has launched (via his iEngage group) yet another attack on Quilliam,. This time he is citing a report from the Redbridge Faith Forum.

The already microscopically minuscule credibility of the Quilliam Foundation has suffered yet another hugely embarrassing setback with the publication of a new report from the Redbridge Faith Forum.

The report produced by Redbridge Faith Forum (RFF) for Redbridge Safer Communities Partnership (RSCP), entitled, “Conversations with Muslim Community leaders in Redbridge about the Preventing Violent Extremism (PVE) Agenda”, finds that contrary to the views articulated by the anti-Muslim brigade at Harry’s Place, the QF has no following whatsoever among British Muslims.

According to the RFF report:

‘…negative view[s] towards the Quilliam Foundation [were] held almost universally by all participants and corroborated by attending meetings including Understanding Redbridge Communities (URC) meeting.’
