Has al-Qaeda theorist Anwar al-Awlaki been killed?

This is a cross-post by Shiraz Maher from Standpoint Magazine

********************

Anwar al-Awlaki, the al-Qaeda theoretician with links to three of the 9/11 terrorists and who recently inspired the Fort Hood shooter, Major Nidal Hasan, has allegedly been killed by an American drone attack in Yemen.

Reuters reports:

SANAA (Reuters) – A Yemeni air raid may have killed the top two leaders of al Qaeda’s regional branch on Thursday, and an American Muslim preacher linked to the man who shot dead 13 people at a U.S. army base may also have died, a Yemeni security official said.

Nasser al-Wahayshi, the Yemeni leader of Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), and his Saudi deputy, Saeed al-Shehri, were believed to be among 30 militants killed in the dawn operation in the eastern province of Shabwa, said the official, who asked not to be identified.

Let down by Hazel Blears

Deceit and duplicity are the cornerstones of Gordon Brown’s government – an administration so long in the waiting that like the fruit of the medlar tree it went rotten before it was ripe. From Brown’s unchallenged ascension to the Premiership, to his persistent refusal to call an election, to the Damien McBride scandal, this is a government characterised by cowardice.

Yet, iniquity is not just Brown’s affliction. It is pervasive in his government.

It turns out that although the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) announced it was breaking ties with the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB) after its Deputy Secretary General, Daud Abdullah, signed the Istanbul Declaration, the MCB was back and meeting ministers less than a month later.

Garton Ash’s view of the Swiss ban on minarets

Timothy Garton Ash has written a comment piece for the Guardian discussing the Swiss ban on mosque minarets. I agree with all that he says except for the Islamic Shakhsiya Foundation point.

I have looked at the curriculum that they were teaching at the time they received government funding. And yes, they do promote Hizb ut-Tahrir (HT) ideology to the core. And as many of us know, HT ideology mandates Muslims to lead segregated lives from the rest of society and to only follow HT’s version of Islam. It is not exactly rocket science to know that HT run schools with HT teachers and a headmistress that was HT at the time of funding and writing the school’s curriculum would be teaching HT ideology to children. Anyway, the rest of the article is good. Have a read:

Bunglawala obsesses about Zionists while MPAC brands them ‘scum of the earth’

This is a cross-post by Shiraz Maher from the Focus on Islamism blog at Standpoint Magazine.

********************

The Muslim Public Affairs Committee (MPAC) is a virulently anti-Semitic organisation. Almost since its inception, the group has obsessed about Jews and Israel, pumping out a near endless stream of articles on the topic.

Yesterday, the group’s website posted this response to an article in the Jewish Chronicle about the disgraced Inayat Bunglawala’s ongoing and vicious sectarianism at a time when he is trying to rebrand himself a ‘moderate’:

Here is a clear case of stirring trouble and hatred (which Zionists are good at)

Do you see how Zionists divide Muslims? Is it not time we united against this scum of the earth?

Professor David Miller and Neocon Europe – Part 2

This is a guest-post by the American Neocon, it is part 2 of 2. See part 1 from yesterday here.

********************

Yesterday we told you how David Miller runs a website that reproduces material from the notorious anti-Semite Kevin MacDonald.

If that was not bad enough, what causes real concern is that David Miller admits that his first project, Spin Watch, emerged as a result of an ESRC grant. The ESRC is a public research council providing taxpayer funds for economic and social research.

In a nutshell: that’s you and me funding Miller’s moonbattery.

There’s more. After receiving all that state funding which ultimately led to the creation of Spin Watch, Miller created a private consultancy called ‘Public Interest Investigations’ in 2005 which focuses on people whose politics he doesn’t like. According to the Articles of Association (you can get these from Companies House, but we decided not to make them available here as they contain personal details) the company lists its aims as follows:

Baghdad Holiday

This is a guest post by Seja Majeed

****

The mere mention of Iraq evokes many reactions within people. Some people feel sheer anger about our reasons for going to war in the first place, whilst others feel an obligation for us to remain there. This week the Daily Telegraph will be conducting its own enquiry into the justification of the war and the actions that subsequently followed it. Whether you agree with the war or not, it cannot be disputed that Iraq has undoubtedly had an affect on all of us. Perhaps the greatest lesson we have learnt in this never ending struggle, is how important liberty, justice and freedom is. It is the lesson that many rarely wish to admit that they have learnt because of the sheer simplicity behind it. But no doubt, history will certainly remind us of this lesson in the future.

Professor David Miller and Neocon Europe – Part 1

This is a guest post by the American Neocon. It is part 1 of a 2 part article.

David Miller

Professor David Miller

So, you will remember that a few months ago we featured one of the main writers of NeoCon Europe, Idrees Ahmed, on this blog. Today we look at one of Ahmed’s other friends.

Neocon Europe is the brainchild of Professor David Miller at Strathclyde University. Long before he created Neocon Europe, Miller was also behind other initiatives such as Spin Watch and Spin Profiles. The former claims to monitor:

the role of public relations and spin in contemporary society.

The website publishes and peddles a series of kooky far-left conspiracies. It hosts, for example, Idrees Ahmad’s utterly insane conspiracy theory that the Darfur crisis is being perpetrated by a powerful Jewish lobby, which bizarrely includes the US Holocaust Memorial Museum. He says:

The American Neocon looms

The American Neocon is a relative of the Arabian Neocon.  Regular readers will remember that a few months ago we featured an article on here exposing one of the individuals involved with the NeoCon Europe website.

Now we have more on the individuals behind this site. Stay tuned folks…

The BNP’s first ethnic minority member

This is a guest post by Maurice Cousins from the Nothing British about the BNP campaign.

******************

After the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) forced the BNP to change its membership policy to accept non-whites as members, some commentators argued it was counter-productive as they could no longer be labelled a racist organisation. While officially the BNP may no longer be a racist party, it still remains a party of racists.

The BNP’s announcement that they have accepted its first non-white member, Rajinder Singh, only proves this point.

Mr Singh is a former part-time teacher from Wellingborough. Born in Lahore, Pakistan, he came to Britain in 1967 after fleeing ethnic tensions resulting from the disastrous 1947 Partition of India. It was this event which saw the death of his father and has inspired Singh to hate Muslims ever since.

The curious rehabilitation of Inayat Bunglawala

This is a cross-post by Shiraz Maher from the Focus on Islamism blog.

*************

Inayat Bunglawala – more commonly known as Bungles – is a spokesman for the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB).

He’s been a busy boy recently.

The MCB has taken a beating over the last two years after its sectarian and Islamist politics were exposed, prompting Bungles to desperately repackage himself as a moderate and liberal. Unfortunately, his Potemkin villages have fooled some – including those foolish Catherine’s who really should know better.

Yes, Inayat wrote an encouraging piece on the Guardian’s Comment is Free (CiF) about Geert Wilders and, more recently, about gay rights too – but so what?

‘Credit where credit is due’ cry Inayat’s new supporters. This is a fallacy. Inayat is due nothing.
