The BNP and the Online Fascist Network

This is a cross-post of an article by Alexander Meleagrou-Hitchens from his blog.

****

Yesterday, the Centre for Social Cohesion released its latest report ‘The BNP and the Online Fascist Network’.  Authored by Edmund Standing, it is an investigation into the BNP’s online support network which includes blogs of official members and activists and official BNP YouTube accounts.  The full report can be downloaded by clicking here.

The main purpose of this investigation was to challenge the BNP’s assertions that they have moderated.  In the run up to the European elections Griffin has engaged in something of a clean up operation, attempting to distance the party from its racist neo-Nazi past.  The small success they have enjoyed is a testament to the success of this programme.

BNP’s “Reverend” West Refuses to Answer Questions About His Ordination

This eyewitness account is cross-posted from Hope not Hate, Norfolk

****
Three Hope not hate campaigners went to meet the fake Reverend Robert West in Norwich today. The three campaigners approached Robert West and asked him to explain where he got the right to use the title “Reverend”. The BNP activists, who were rallying in a car park at a closed pub, The Duke of Norfolk on Mousehold Lane, were surprised and angry that Hope not hate were there to greet them.

The BNP asked for volunteers to come to Norwich today. Only about twenty actually turned up, and it seemed their idea of a day of action was to attack local Hope not Hate campaigners.

Robert West, who as well as believing himself to be a Vicar, also now appears to believe that he is Winston Churchill, held out the V for victory sign.

Dog Bark Politics

I’m replicating below an important and brilliant post by Dave Rich of the CST. You’ll remember, this is the same CST those insane fools at the IHRC falsely accused of ‘Islamophobia’ before we dismantled their arguments here and the CST blew them out of the water here.

On Wednesday Nick Griffin, BNP leader and newly-elected Member of the European Parliament, told the BBC that boats carrying illegal immigrants to Europe should be sunk as they cross the Mediterranean. In an attempt to show his humane side, he insisted that he did not want anyone to actually die: “they can throw them a life raft and they can go back to Libya”.

He has followed this up with an interview four Channel 4 News, in which he described Islam as a “cancer” that needed to be treated with “global chemotherapy”:

Griffin: Sink Immigrants’ Boats

Well, it didn’t take him long did it? The BBC reports:

If there’s measures to set up some kind of force or to help, say the Italians, set up a force which actually blocks the Mediterranean then we’d support that.

But the only measure, sooner or later, which is going to stop immigration and stop large numbers of sub-Saharan Africans dying on the way to get over here is to get very tough with those coming over.

Frankly, they need to sink several of those boats.

What a pillock.

The Civil Service has lost the plot

I’m truly lost for words on this one and completely outraged by it, so I’ll keep it short and simple.

The Telegraph is reporting that Lisa Greenwood, an administrator in the Department of Children, Schools and Families, has lost her job for writing an anonymous message on an internet site at the height of the expenses scandal.

After learning that Hazel Blears had allegedly ‘flipped’ her second home to avoid capital gains taxes, Lisa Greenwood wrote:

“How dare you wave a cheque about on national TV, saying that you are sorry.

You are only sorry that you have been caught. You are a disgrace (including all the other honourable members). Why haven’t you been sacked?”

The message was written anonymously on the “They Work for You” website, but was still traced back to her work computer. She was promptly suspended and then sacked.

How to defeat white racist terrorism – the IPPR approach

This is guest post by Al-Qanaas Al-Masri

******************************

During the weekend, the British police announced that they had arrested 32 white extremists in Northern England and uncovered huge stocks of rocket-launchers, hand grenades and explosives. The men, at least one of who appears to be a member of the British National Party, were apparently planning attacks on Muslims and mosques around the UK.

Andy Hull from the Institute of Public Policy Research (IPPR) has previously proposed for the government to tackle Islamist violence by working with and funding non-violent Islamists. Seeking to apply his theories to similarly tackling white racist violence, I have taken the liberty of editing one of his papers on this subject in order to see how it would likewise address the problem of white racist violence.

No sex please, we’re British!

Last week Yossarian introduced you to the latest stealth campaign being run by Hizb ut Tahrir: “The SRE Islamic Campaign”. In a nutshell, they’re getting worried about plans to teach ‘sex and relationship education’ (SRE) at school. The co-ordinator is Yusuf Patel, whose brother, Jalaluddin, used to be the leader of HT in Britain. On Facebook Yusuf boasts:

I am leading a national campaign against the plans to make SRE statutory. But I recognise that it does not start and end there.

*(see the facebook group “Rochdale Muslims against sex and relationship education for 5 year old’s)

In this campaign, Patel lists his aims as being:

OUR VALUES

As Muslims we believe in the primacy of marriage, the prohibition of sexual relations outside marriage, the unacceptability of homosexuality which is often portrayed as a lifestyle choice. We also subscribe to the concept of Hayaa (modesty) which guides the interaction between men and women.

Mainstreaming Extremism

Abdullah Hasan writes his views on how the government can tackle Islamic extremism on the Islamic Forum Europe (IFE) blog:

The ways the government can eradicate extremism is by acknowledging that their foreign policy and their draconian laws against Muslims play an immense part in radicalising Muslims. They need to work with mainstream Muslim organisations such as MCB, IFE, MAB etc. These organisations are working at the grassroots level and have the support of many Muslims. They need to be provided more resources and room to carry out their work. They also need to allow the existing mainstream Imams in Britain to do their job effectively by providing them resources and platforms to preach a balanced Islam.

Hasan’s views are not particulalry novel or unique or even mildly groundbreaking. His statement is important, however, because Hasan is himself a textbook Islamist and here he is articulating an Islamist’s view of the political lay of the land. His explanation of how “extremism” can be eliminated, if deconstructed, amounts to:

Propaganda TV

The terrible repression of ordinary Iranians and reporters continues unabated in Tehran. The latest news to emerge is that the Canadian-Iranian journalist Maziar Bahari who was covering events for Newsweek has apparently ‘confessed’ to participating:

in a Western media effort to promote irresponsible reporting in Iran.

The whole thing started after Maziar gave Channel 4 News footage of Basiji members opening fire on a crowd of protestors. The Basiji responded by arresting Maziar who has been detaind since June 21. Then, as if right on cue, we have this from Iran’s state sponsored broadcaster Press TV:

…Bahari explained the nature of some of his activities in Iran over the past years and the role that Western media had played in the events, which unfolded in the country.

Welcome back, Azad Ali

Although the news has not been confirmed, we have come to learn that Azad Ali, the Islamist civil servant who was suspended from his job in HM Treasury for publishing anti-British and pro-jihadi views on the Islamic Forum Europe (IFE) blog is, according to Inayat Bunglawala’s site IEngage, “back at work”.

I discussed Azad Ali’s pro-jihadi views which were published in an article called “Defeating extremism by promoting balance”. In that blog entry, Ali promoted the ideologies of two violent-jihadi extremists, Abdullah Azzam and Anwar al-Awlaki. Ali’s thesis is very simple: Terrorism is not jihad. However, fighting British troops where they are occupying ‘Muslims lands’ such as Iraq and Afghanistan represents a proper and “balanced” form of justice and therefore a justified execution of the jihad doctrine.
