“When I want a sex-slave, I go to the market and buy her”

From Freethought Nation:

Abu Ishaq al-Huwaini

Egyptian-American activist Raymond Ibrahim has written an article discussing remarks by “popular” Egyptian Muslim cleric Abu Ishaq al-Huwaini justifying the invasion, plunder and rape of non-Muslim lands, in order to enrich Muslims. Ibrahim also cites recent cases of this behavior, justified by Islamic doctrines, as put forth by such preachers as al-Huwaini. In a speech some years ago, Huwaini remarked:

If only we can conduct a jihadist invasion at least once a year or if possible twice or three times, then many people on earth would become Muslims. And if anyone prevents our dawa or stands in our way, then we must kill them or take as hostage and confiscate their wealth, women and children. Such battles will fill the pockets of the Mujahid who can return home with 3 or 4 slaves, 3 or 4 women and 3 or 4 children. This can be a profitable business if you multiply each head by 300 or 400 dirham. This can be like financial shelter whereby a jihadist, in time of financial need, can always sell one of these heads [meaning slavery]. (Translated by Nonie Darwish.)

Proper Dead Reckoning

One of East London Mosque’s favourite Bangladeshi war criminals is due to face criminal interrogation under the War Crimes Tribunal in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Justice better served late than none at all, we hope. Tragically, in excess of 200 war criminals who were officers of the Pakistani military are still untried.

The investigation agency formed to probe the war crimes cases on Monday finalised the first-ever investigation report, pressing charges against Jamaat-e-Islami’s nayeb-e-amir, Delwar Hossain Sayedee.

The 4,074-page report in 15 volumes — the 77-page investigation report in one volume that proposes formal charges and the 3,997-page case diary in 14 volumes — will be submitted to the prosecutors today, said the investigation agency’s coordinator, M Sanaul Haque, at a briefing in the agency’s office on Bailey Road.

Galloway goes off the reservation, again

Galloway waxes lyrical about the Children of the Intifada and the “resistance” in Lebanon and Iraq. He also pontificates in general terms about the Arab right to global supremacy.

One gets the sense that the George Galloway story is coming to a head in this latest excursion to Gaza.

The same old geezers, again and again

There is one simple reason for cautious confidence in the future of British Islam, and the ultimate unlikelihood of Islamist politics taking deep, widespread roots in our pluralistic parliamentary democracy. Whenever you hear of some depressing new gambit to rally British Muslims to an absurd sectarian agenda, its origins and organisation can invariably be traced to the same coterie of individuals. For this band of Brothers, such activism is a labour of love, the fruit of sleepless nights and schoolboy daydreams. But there are only about fifteen of them.

And so it is with the Hamas-inspired bid to have Tzipi Livni arrested on British soil and the side-car campaign to have the charitable status of the Jewish National Fund revoked. On the 13th December the Islamic Human Rights Commission and the Palestinian Solidarity Campaign cobbled together a demonstration outside the Hendon Hall hotel to coincide with a JNF conference which Livni was due to attend. The IHRC called on the likeminded to register their discontent at JNF “ethnic cleansing of Palestinians” and Tzipi Livni’s “responsibility for the Israeli onslought [sic] on Gaza”.

A setback for the Brotherhood in Britain

The struggle against Islamism in this country is a long war, with all that entails. It unfolds in a world of skirmishes, false-starts and minutely shifting power balances.

Every now and then, however, comes a set-piece moment:

“The Trustees of Policy Exchange are delighted to report that Mr Justice Eady yesterday struck out the claim brought against us by the North London Central Mosque.

North London Central Mosque commenced an action against Policy Exchange and Dr Denis MacEoin for libel, following publication of our study “The Hijacking of British Islam” in October 2007.

Six trustees who had advanced the claim on behalf of the North London Central Mosque were ordered to pay Policy Exchange’s costs of defending this action.

The High Court made a further Order that £75,000 of those costs be paid by North London Central Mosque within 28 days.”
