BMF Supports the Zakir Naik Ban

The British Muslim Forum supports the ban on Dr Zakir Naik by the Home Secretary Theresa May from entering the UK for his “unacceptable behaviour”.

The British Muslim Forum being the voice of the majority of the two million Muslims who are Traditional Sunnis (which incorporates Sufism) and representative body of the majority of the twelve hundred Mosques & Islamic Institutes in the UK understands more than anyone that Muslims in Britain should stand together for the wider interests of our communities but not on the price of terrorism or supporters of terrorism and divisions.

Maulana Ahmad Nisar Beg Qadri, Vice-Chairman of the British Muslim Forum said:

“We are British Muslims. Our religion does not allow any kind of terror where ever we are. We have to prove that we Muslims are best British citizens, patriotic, law abiding and peace loving”.

London June 20: Rally against Sharia and religious laws

Hundreds will be demonstrating in London against Sharia and religious laws and in support of secularism and universal rights on Sunday 20 June 2010. The rally organised by the One Law for All Campaign will be held from 1400-1600 hours at Richmond Terrace junction with Whitehall opposite Downing Street (SW1A 2). (Please note venue change from Trafalgar Square made by police; closest underground: Westminster.)

On the day, the Campaign will make public its new report entitled: Sharia Law in Britain: A Threat to One Law for All and Equal Rights. In the report One Law for All outlines what Sharia law is, how it is practised in Britain and exposes the way in which Sharia Councils and Muslim Arbitration Tribunals are circumventing British law and human rights legislation. The report also reveals the gross injustices to women and children in particular and reiterates the need to end Sharia and all religious courts on the basis that they work against, and not for, equality and human rights.

Ramadan Mubarak

To all of our readers,

We at the Spittoon would like to wish you a very blessed Ramadan.

You may not all agree with our views and you may not all agree with how we choose to express them, but we hope that you will accept our avowal that this is a blog written out of sincerity, not bitterness, and with a genuine concern to make things better.

At least, we trust, there can be agreement on this being a time of the year to remember the pettiness of any differences we may have and to prioritise those things in life which matter much more.

كل عام وانتم بخير

Maintenance

You may have noticed that posts have slowed down over the last few days and that some threads have gone missing. The site is undergoing essential maintenance and although we’ll aim to keep posting some new things, there will be disruption for the rest of this week. Sorry.

Everything will be restored shortly and normal service resumed asap. In the meantime, enjoy some of Yusuf Islam’s new album, Roadsinger. You can buy it here.
