The radical Islamist cult Islam4UK, called a demonstration for the abolition of democracy and the imposition of Sharia law in the UK, to be held today. Rumours about Islam4UK’s cancellation of their demo had been circulating since yesterday but were dismissed by the BMSD as just more of the usual tactical disinformation from Anjem’s camp. However by this morning it was official: Islam4UK had withdrawn from their own protest!
The British Muslims for Secular Democracy (BMSD) carried on, in spite of the Islam4UK’s retreat. In the absence of Choudhary’s goon-squad, it was only the BMSD and the English Democrats who showed up. As the afternoon progressed, the BMSD presence soon transformed from a counter-demo into the protest against Islamist extremism and Al-Muhajiroun. And of course, a celebration of democracy, pluralism and secularism at the foot of Eros, in Picadilly Circus.
At the risk of sounding triumphalist, it is worth noting that if all it takes for Anjem Choudhary and his band of Islamist thugs to beat a hasty and cowardly retreat, is a joyful demonstration by a small group of peaceable, sane Muslim liberals, I doubt we will be seeing Islamist extremism succeed in the UK anytime soon. And all we did was hold placards which parodied and mocked them.
It has been a great day for British Muslims, for liberal democracy and for pluralism.

When will politicians EVER get it that the way to embrace the Muslim community is to support moderates and help them stand up to the radicals who bully them?
Great work by the BSDM! These medieval Islamists need to be confronted and not appeased as was being done by some from the Labour Party. It is shocking to see how some from the Left have become romantisized by the Islamist right. It is also happening in Canada but here, the Muslim Canadian Congress (www.muslimcanadiancongress) is confronting them. This protest rally is a booster for muslims worldwide who are sick of these facist goons and their violent attempts to impose a misogynist, sectarian and medieval ideology.
Have the folk at BMSD considered debating ALM?
Are the Spitoonites who hold up or promote banners saying “Free Speech will dominate the world” related to the Spitoon who have called for numerous Muslim preachers the dont like to be banned and ban posts and posters who mock them and their friends ?
