Fascists, Socialists, Islamists, Liberals: Holding Hands

The Palestine Telegraph reports:

The Palestinian Return Centre (PRC) will host a conference on the 16th of December 2009 to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency UNRWA.

This is a list of “a list of those already confirmed”:

  • Claire Short- British MP
  • Baroness Jenny Tonge- Former British MP
  • Professor Norman Finkelstein- American Political Scientist and Author
  • Ambassador Khalil Makkawi – head of the Lebanese-Palestinian Dialogue Committee
  • Dr Daud Abdullah- Expert on Palestinian issue and Deputy Secretary General of the MCB
  • Dr Bashir Nafi- Lecturer
  • Rachel Rudolf – Professor in Political Science
  • Sami Mashasha – UNRWA Spokesperson
  • Ali Huwaidi – Director of Palestinian Organization for the Right of Return “Thabit” in Beirut
  • Tariq Hamoud – Director of Palestinian Return Community “WAJEB” in Syria
  • Wajih Azayiza – Jordanian representative of Palestinian Refugees
  • Ali Mustafa – Representative of Palestinian refugees in Host countries
  • Nadeem Shehadeh- Representative of Palestinian refugees in Host countries
  • Kristina Morvai – Lawyer, Human Rights Lecturer and Member of European Parliament
  • •Anicee Van Engeland – Professor of Human Rights Law

If that list is correct, then this is an important development.

Alongside Istanbul Declaration (pdf) signatory Daud Abdullah, Liberal Democrat peer Jenny Tonge, former Labour MP Claire Short, former Professor Norman Finkelstein, and the “UNRWA Spokesperson” – is Kristina Morvai.

morvai

Kristina Morvai is a prominent European fascist from the neo Nazi Jobbik party. You can read about her antics here and here.

magyar-garda

As we previously reported:

Magyar Garda and Jobbik are notable for their vicious anti-Roma position (Hungarian police recently banned an anti-Roma rally they had planned) and their somewhat more modulated antisemitism. BNP leader Nick Griffin addressed one of their rallies in Budapest.

So, the convergence between the extremes is now almost complete.

habibi adds: Here’s Griffin at the Jobbik rally last year:

We have covered the Palestinian Return Centre before. It is a front for Hamas and employs Daud Abdullah.

As a side issue, people might like to know something about one of the Sudanese signatories of the utterly vile Istanbul Declaration:

Abdul Hai Yusuf is the imam of the Doaha Mosque of Jebra, a firm supporter of the barbaric practice of Female Genital Mutilation in Sudan. The Sudan Human Rights Organisation noted the following about the Shaykh back in 2003:

In September [2003], the head of state ['Umar al-Bashir] criticized the calling for the prevention of female circumcision. Accusing unnamed sources of activating a campaign against this custom, the president said that “there are anti-Islam anti-Muslim circles that activate campaigns against the female circumcision.” The president’s statement was part of his commentary on the call of al-Sheikh ‘Abdel-Hai Yousif, the imam of the Doaha Mosuq of Jebra, to “abide-by the Sunna circumcision, which is approved by the medical sources being more beneficial than harmful.” ‘Abdel-Hai also pointed out “the Four Madhahib [schools of Shari'a jurisprudence] preferred the female circumcision as Sunna or duty or courtesy for the women.” The imam launched a vigorous attack against all voices asking for the prevention of female circumcision saying that, “they are enemies using their campaigns to hurt Islam.” The head of state praised the role the ‘ulama [Islamist scholars] played to enlighten the Umma [nation] and to guide people to the right path.

One of the typical liberals attending this love in of Neo-Nazis, Islamists and Liberals is Anicee Van Engeland – who clearly believes Islamism can be “reformed” into something nice, cuddly, and woven from wholemeal halal muesli, if her gushingly pretentious profile from her days at the European University Institute is anything to be believed:

During her PhD entitled “Universality of Human Rights and Iranian Law: Enforcement of Human Rights in a Muslim Country”, Anisseh analyzed Iranian law to understand what where the legal, political, social and cultural obstacles to the enforcement of universal of human rights. Her conclusions were that Iranian law is caught between tradition and modernity. Neither the principle of universality nor cultural relativism can provide a viable solution to this tension. She therefore analyzed the theories on conciliation and dialogue: Iranian civil society is the key to any enforcement of universal human rights and any democratic reform. Iran is going through a process of democratization taking place from the bottom to the top of the society. Consequently, she strongly support coordination with local partners as she perceives it as an essential part in the reform process: consultation with local experts, civil society and local NGOs is necessary to ensure a reform that will fit universal standards while respecting local specificities. [Scrub that one, then, Anicee, in the light of Ahmadinejad's "election"]

During her time at the EUI, Anisseh will enforce the theories of the new hermeneutics of the Shari’a she used to encourage the reform of Iranian law to fit universal standards to the Islamic law of war.

She has published articles in all these research fields. Her most recent publications include a book entitled From Violence to Politics: The Transformation of Terrorist Groups into Political Parties

    Oh dear.
