Ekram Haque was attacked as he returned from a mosque

A pensioner who was attacked in south London as he returned from a mosque has died from his injuries.

Ekram Haque, 67, a retired care worker, was assaulted in Church Lane, Tooting, on 31 August.

Four boys, aged 12, 15 and two 14 year olds, have been charged with conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm (GBH).

All four are also accused of attacking two other men before the attack on Mr Haque. The four boys will appear at Sutton Youth Court on Tuesday.

Police are now treating the death of Mr Haque as murder.

All four boys face two counts of actual bodily harm (ABH) in connection with the attack on the two men, one in his 40s and the other in his 70s, on 31 August.

The two 14 year olds and the 15 year old also face an additional charge of GBH with intent in connection with the attack on Mr Haque.

One of the 14-year-olds, who was remanded in custody on Monday when he appeared at Sutton Youth Court, also faces another charge of attempted GBH on two other pensioners in the Tooting area on 26 August, police said.

The Evening Standard had more earlier in the week. The fact that Ekram was coming out of the mosque suggests (although we should not preempt a proper police investigation) that anti-Muslim bigotry was a driving factor in this horrible, vicious assault.

The attack was not anti muslim. It was racist, & the boys are allegedly all black.

As a matter of interest most victims of race attacks are white British, when one considers the sizes of the various populations.

The victim seems a good & decent man whose religious faith helped him live a good life. I hope the culprits are apprehended & get long prison sentences.

This must not blind us to the fact that people from a muslim background are behind
a disproportionate number of horribly violent crimes in the UK.

I blame multiculturalism, which positively encourages immigrants & their families to live as if they are still resident in far off, & rather backward lands.

Could you clarify what you mean please? Are you saying that a white person is proportionately more likely to suffer a race attack than somebody of another background? If you’re just saying that there are numerically more racist attacks on white British people then, given that such people are 93% of the population, it doesn’t really surprise me. Either way it’d be interesting to see some statistics if you have any?

Assuming equal numbers of violent racists in the white community (90% +)
& the non white (10 % -) one would expect less than one in ten racist attacks
    to be against whites.

In fact the liberal media generally hide the scale of assaults, especially muslim attacks on whites & non muslim others, epsecially black Christians.

While politicians fight for seats at Stephen Lawrence memorial services, hardly anyone knows of the hideous kidnapping, torture & burning alive of Kriss Donald.
The muslims who did it were brought to book, with aid of the local muslim MP who
is quitting politics because of the threats against his family, in the UK & back home, from his muslim constituents
