Hizb ut-Tahrir’s ‘ugly face’

The Pakistani branch of Hizb ut-Tahrir (HT) issued a press release, titled ‘The ugly face of democracy and freedom of expression has been exposed’, states that its website – operating in Pakistan for the past four months – has been blocked by the government. Supposedly this is not the first time.

For those unfamiliar, HT is a revolutionary Islamist party that aims to overthrow governments ‘peacefully’ in order to establish an Islamic state. It operates freely in most countries in the West, but banned by governments in the Middle East and Pakistan.

HT members in Pakistan have recently urged the Chief Justice of Lahore’s High Court to have an early hearing of its 2005 petition challenging the ban placed on the party. According to the Pakistani based news source, The News, a local HT spokesman Imran Ahmed said:

The ban on our organisation was clamped by the Musharraf regime without any legal ground as we are peaceful people and strictly believe in peaceful struggle to achieve any objective whatsoever. [My emphasis]

HT members in Pakistan have admitted that it has a policy of trying to recruit military officers there to wage a so-called ‘bloodless coup’. One intellectually dim member from Britain- Tayyib Muqeem [see here and here for evidence] said that HT wants to overthrow the current government in Pakistan in order to use the country as a base to spread and subject other ‘un-Islamic’ countries to Sharia law – if necessary ‘by force’. Waging bloody wars would be part of the party’s foreign policy. He also added that HT, aka the ‘Liberation Party’, would force “every woman … to cover up”, and legalise stoning to death for adultery and chopping hands for thievery in HT’s Islamic state.

The News also reported Imran Ahmed to have said:

The ban was unlawful and unjust because we abhor violence and have nothing to do with the violent acts of the Taliban or other extremist groups.

If HT supposedly abhor violence, then why do we never here them denounce the violent acts of the Taliban? Because they are hypocrites who apply double standards. Instead of condemning the Taliban for its disgusting human rights abuses, HT both in Pakistan and in the UK consistently condemn the Pakistani government in its fight against the Taliban. [See my previous blog about this here; Sunny’s blog from Pickled Politics here]

The fact that HT members are plotting to overthrow the current Pakistani government by using the military to wage a supposedly ‘peaceful coup’ amounts to treason. In a country where the fight against violent extremism is paramount, keeping HT banned would at least keep this nuisance organisation from gaining any influence.

Don’t worry Houriya, they have very little chance of gaining influence anywhere. People always see through empty slogans and paper tigers eventually.

Mashallah, HT have a lot of support around the world. Of course there will be many people around the world who disagree with their view. This is welcomed. But HT will continue to work in a non-violent way, in accordance to the example put forth by Muhammad (SAW), to account the evil dictators and murdering Mr 10% ‘s for the injustice and tyranny they have brought upon the Ummah.

HT will continue to call for the union of the Islamic lands under one leader on the basis of Islam. The western powers do not want a political union of muslims under one leader, even though they have that themselves. They do not want a united Muslim Ummah, even though they are united themselves. Every Muslim wants unity on the basis of Islam. Every Muslim wants protection and a right to education, work and justice. Every Muslim wants Islam to be abundant in every aspect of society. HT, along with many other Islamic groups, works to bring Islam, in abundance, into existing Muslim majority societies. This is a noble action, which has caused many to lose life and limb.

Ofcourse people will disagree with it. Ofcourse governments hungry to cling onto power will work to subvert its actions. Ofcourse institutions will be created to counter its work – This is all expected. But HT and the myriad of other Islamic groups will never stop their work. The simple reason for this, is that they have firm reliance on Allah (SWT), love the Prophet (SAW), his family (RA), companions, Islam’s scholars and sincerely believe that come what may, the right thing to do is to enact the worship of Allah (SWT) in our own lives and in society.

Abdul Rehman – I can see you have completely avoided my point by point rebuttal of your arguments in the ‘Quilliam director attacked’ thread and have instead chosen to visit alternative threads to make vague and unsubstantiated claims. How do expect anyone to take you seriously. Some thing doesn’t become the case just because you want it too. Saying the same thing over and over again doesn’t make it right.

You are hasty. Check the timings of the posts. I had rebutted your points before posting here. The other article was simply awaiting moderation.

This hasty jumping to conclusion without evidence or in-depth reading is an observable pattern of yours.

Abdul Rehman – I posted my rebuttal yesterday at 5.00pm and am still awaiting a response. Also there is no need to make personal offensive statements against me, I’m sure that was not in Nabhani’s Ijtihad.

    Still awaiting response my brother.

But has not appeared for some reason. I am sure it is a technical issue that should get resolved.

I have not made anything personal. The point stands, that you jump to conclusions without thinking, the above and other articles are clear proof of this.

Regardless, I have seen how people here have personally attacked senior members of HT in a very childish manner. This clearly shows me that this is not a serious site and I am wasting my time.
