Press TV is available in English across the region - and if you want the local version, one can always find Hizbullah's deranged al-Manar channel on all the satellites, together with their vile children's channel, Taha.

Paul

One thing I can assure you was that the vast, yawning discrepancy between Press TV's coverage of the Egyptian Revolution and their coverage of the democracy movement in Iran was not lost on any of my Egyptian neighbours and friends.

We were all stunned to learn from Press TV that the Egyptian Revolution was driven by a desire to implement an Islamic Republic here in Cairo - principally because that was of no interest whatsoever to anyone involved in the democratic opposition who drove the Revolution, nor the majority of its participants.

We were fascinated by Press TV's coverage which managed - like many other news outlets, to be fair - to entirely ignore the role of the Egyptian trade unionists in the industrial cities of the Delta (rather like the totally ignored role of the miners of Tunisia in their Revolution), who began the revolutionary upheaval two years ago, in favour of talking heads drawn from the usual MB suspects and assorted overseas Islamist favourites with little or no connection to the events in Egypt.

We were wearily amused to learn that in Press TV world, Egyptian democratic Revolution = good; Iranian democratic Revolution = bad.

Spare us the nonsense that this is anything other than Propaganda TV.

Weird... As a UK citizen, white, middle-aged, etc, most of us are turning to watching PressTV as a clearer alternative to the US-driven BBC and the other awful, shallow British TV programmes (they're dreadul, tbh). RussiaToday (though could do with additional material) is also hugely on the increase; once more, thanks to the more open and honest portrayal of world news. Max Keiser and the honesty of other presenters on PressTV and RT are, in all honesty, screwing the BBC and the US-led propoganda nonsense into the ground. You know this; we know this - and you're gonna have to get used to it. Or just keep whinging if y' like - we really don't care. We've had to put up with the post-Thatcherite paradigm lies of corporate business for oh too long. But not anymore... Wake up and change - or fall into the gutter along with the dollar and the banking system and its thieves.
Cheers - Paul

Just to clarify - and I hope you don't think I'm being too precious about this - that Press TV doesn't broadcast on Sky, but broadcasts from the same satellite as Sky.

OFCOM requires that Sky gives other broadcasters access to listings and a channel number on its Electronic Programme Guide in return for a fee or inclusion in Sky television packages.

I just wouldn't want people to be mistaken in thinking that Sky will "do anything for money" or are somehow condoning the channel when it's entirely out of their hands. It's not the same as, say, Nokia and Siemens with their direct dealings with the Iranian state.

I saw that Press TV Spokescreep Mathew Richardson on BBC Newsnight being tackled by Martin Bright. Mathew Richardson. An Englishman with a Christian name who has adopted the comic-book appearance of a Persian Bond villain ( replete with goatee and eyeliner ) to please his Iranian masters who he assists in the oppression of their people. He would be merely ridiculous ( with his arched eyebrow and gyrating shiny head ) were it not for the fact that the little creep is not merely mercenary but a Quisling, selling out both Iranians and his own country for the sake of a few bags of silver. What a two-faced slithery reptile he is, responding to every question with a smirking one-size fits all "thats nothing to do with me, you are asking the wrong person".
